Regional Mailing Lists
Where there was one, now there are two... um, four.
- The Wisconsin Pagan Mailing list, lovingly
known as the WIP list, serves the entire state of Wisconsin. Its membership
has hovered around 150 on the main list and another sixty or so on the digest
for the last several years. Started in 1995 by Wade, then a student at UW
Kenosha, it grew from a few people who sent mail to Wade who then manually
forwarded it to everyone else, to a full-fledged majordomo list. I've been
on it since a few weeks after its inception.
- The Upper Midwest Pagan
Email List is newer and since I'm not on it, I can't tell you much
about it except that I've had an online aquaintance with Hawkdancing Studio
since around January of 1999 and Nels has been a responsible and dependable
person in everything we've been involved with..
- MadAPP - Madison Area
Pagan Parenting
MadAPP is a group that meets informally at various locations and times in
the Madison area. All Pagan parents from surrounding communities and counties
are welcome to join the group and attend our functions. We meet at various
parks and play-spots to let the children have fun while the adults chat and
chase after the kids. We also meet monthly one-half hour before the Pagan
Tea & Talk, which is held the third Friday of each month at the WilMar Center.
Our group meets at 7:00 near the play area inside the center. To sign up,
go to groups.yahoo.com/group/MadAPP
- Yahoo
Clubs, Pagan Wisconsin
A Yahoo club is an online gathering place for people with similar interests.
One requirement is that you must get a Yahoo ID to join, which requires that
you give Yahoo.com certain information about you, and then must log in to
Yahoo with a username and password. There are several groups (six, as of November
11, 2001), for Wisconsin Pagans, certain regions of Wisconsin, etc. Some are
covens, and some may be closed. One thing is certain: they are on the increase.
Last year about this time, I didn't know of any. They have several aspects,
one of which is a mailing list. I was leery of them for a bit, since my experience
was that they tended to disappear without notice. That appears to be changing.
As I hear of other lists, they will be posted here. The only requirement is
that they be a possible resource for Wisonsin pagans. I know the Twin Cities
isn't in Wisconsin, but for a lot of Wisconsinites it's a much shorter drive
than Madison or Green Bay. Therefore, the resources don't stop at the state
line.
